He Knows my Name by Francesca Battistelli

Spent today in a conversation
In the mirror face to face with
somebody less than perfect
I wouldn't choose me first if
I was looking for a champion
In fact I'd understand if
You picked everyone before me
But that's just not my story
True to who You are
You saw my heart
and made
Something out of nothing

[Chorus:]
I don't need my name in lights
I'm famous in my Father's eyes
Make no mistake
He knows my name
I'm not living for applause
I'm already so adored
It's all His stage
He knows my name oh, oh,
He knows my name oh, oh

I'm not meant to just stay quiet
I'm meant to be a lion
I'll roar beyond a song
With every moment that I've got
True to who You are
You saw my heart
and made
Something out of nothing

[Chorus]

He calls me chosen, free forgiven, wanted, child of the King,
His forever, held in treasure...
I am loved

I don't need my name in lights...
I'm famous in my Father's eyes...

[Chorus]

In God's holy word it says that we are to be in this world, but not of this world. I think this is kinda what Francesca is getting at here. We are meant to spread God's light in the darkness, but we also have to remember that this place isn't our home, we are of God's world now. He wants us to spread His name, roaring it like lions, and show others how wonderful it is to know that He is in control even in the hard times. But we can't get wrapped up with, being famous, or getting friends, because God saw us when still sinners, when we were filthy and rotten orphans, but He sent His only son to come down to earth and cleanse us with His blood that we might serve Him forever in Heaven as His children. So when we get down, remember, we don't need our names in lights, we're famous in our Father's eyes. And make no mistake, He knows each of us by name. :)

Live Like That by SideWalk Prophets

Sometimes I think
What will people say of me
When I’m only just a memory
When I’m home where my soul belongs
Was I love
When no one else would show up
Was I Jesus to the least of us
Was my worship more than just a song
Chorus
I wanna live like that
And give it all I have
So that everything You say and do
Points to You
If love is who I am
Then this is where I’ll stand
Recklessly abandoned
Never holding back
I wanna live like that
Am I proof
That You are who You say you are
That grace can really change your heart
Do I live like Your love is true
People pass
And even if they don’t know my name
Is there evidence that I’ve been changed
When they me do they see You
Chorus
I wanna show the world the love He gave for me
I’m longing for the world to know
The glory of the King
Chorus

As Christians we are called to be like Christ Jesus. This song often cuts me as I think about when I use sharp words with my siblings, get annoyed with crowds, and waste time. I want to be like Jesus, but we are human and will never compare to Him. This is a fallen world, and fallen things need to be picked up and put back together. This is Jesus' job, but we can still help with some of the band aides, give hugs, share comforting words, and show others glimpses of what it will be like when Jesus finally returns.

Is homosexuality okay?

Homosexuality. Is it okay?

We passed a law making it legal for homosexuals to marry in America. And if you listen or keep up with the media right now you'll hear about quite a few Christians who believe that homosexuality is okay. Just to name a few, Carrie Underwood, Demi Lavato, Katy Perry, and Josh Hutcherson.
The most common thing I've heard for defense from people like them is, "God loves and forgives everyone." And they "Don't believe in labels."
But doesn't the Bible tell us in many places that homosexuality isn't okay?

Genesis 19:5-11, 13.  "And they called to Lot, “Where are the men who came to you tonight? Bring them out to us, that we may know them. Lot went out to the men at the entrance, shut the door after him, and said, “I beg you, my brothers, do not act so wickedly. Behold, I have two daughters who have not known any man. Let me bring them out to you, and do to them as you please. Only do nothing to these men, for they have come under the shelter of my roof. But they said, “Stand back!” And they said, “This fellow came to sojourn, and he has become the judge! Now we will deal worse with you than with them.” Then they pressed hard against the man Lot, and drew near to break the door down. 10 But the men reached out their hands and brought Lot into the house with them and shut the door. 11 And they struck with blindness the men who were at the entrance of the house, both small and great, so that they wore themselves out groping for the door." - "For we are about to destroy this place, because the outcry against its people has become great before the Lord, and the Lord has sent us to destroy it.”

Leviticus 20:13 "If a man lies with a male as with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination; they shall surely be put to death."

Jude 1:5-7 "Now I want to remind you, although you once fully knew it, that Jesus, who saved a people out of the land of Egypt, afterward destroyed those who did not believe. And the angels who did not stay within their own position of authority, but left their proper dwelling, he has kept in eternal chains under gloomy darkness until the judgment of the great day— just as Sodom and Gomorrah and the surrounding cities, which likewise indulged in sexual immorality and pursued unnatural desire, serve as an example by undergoing a punishment of eternal fire."
Is that one not obvious? And it's stated both in the Old and New Testaments.

Then answering their "God loves and forgives everyone."

No. He doesn't. He only loves and forgives His followers. And if we really are His followers then we will obey His commandments,

John 14:15 "If you love me you will keep my commandments."

Just because someone says they're a Christian does not mean they are.

Matthew 7:21-23 "Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. 22 On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?’ 23 And then will I declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.’"

And the "I don't believe in labels."

In Genesis 1:27 states "So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he him; male and female he created them."
Don't you think God makes us a certain sex for a reason? And God Himself obviously just made two labels right there. Labels are not to restrict, but to guide. As a writer I personally know that if I didn't have labels it would be very hard to create characters who just, 'are what they are'. And who then would be defined as the 'evil person' or 'antagonist'?

But this doesn't mean we are to shun the homosexuals. We are to be careful around them because, "Bad company corrupts good morals." But we are also called to be a light in dark places. But how can we shine when we can't even discern the good from the bad? We read the Bible and go on a great adventure of discovering new things, and what God has to say about His world. :)

Do you agree? Why or why not? I do not mean to stir up emotions, and I apologize if anyone is offended by my beliefs, but I'm entitled to mine the same way you are. :)

Forgiveness by TobyMac

'Cause we all make mistakes sometimes
And we all steped across that line
But nothing's sweeter than the day we find
We find...

It's hanging over him like the clouds of Seattle
And raining on his swag, falling deeper in the saddle
It's written on his face, he don't have to speak a sound
Somebody call the 5-0, we've got a man down

Now you can go and play it like your all rock 'n' roll
And guilt does a job on each and every man's soul
And when your head hits the pillow with the night fall
You can bet your life that it's gonna be a fight y'all

'Cause we all make mistakes sometimes
And we've all stepped across that line
But nothing's sweeter than the day we find
Forgiveness, forgiveness

And we all stumble and we fall
Bridges burn in the heat of it all
But nothing's sweeter than the day we call
We call

Out for forgiveness
We all need, we all need
We all need forgiveness
We all need, we all need

Mister Lecrae

My mama told me what I would be in for
If I keep all this anger inside me pint up
My heart's been broken, my wounds been open
And I don't know if I can hear "I'm sorry" been spoken
But those forgiving much should be quicker to give it
And God forgave me for it all, Jesus bleed forgiveness
So when the stones fly and they aimed at you
Just say "forgive 'em Father, they know not what they do"

Now you can go and play it like your all rock 'n' roll
And guilt does a job on each and every man's soul
And when your head hits the pillow with the night fall
You can bet your life that it's gonna be a fight y'all

'Cause we all make mistakes sometimes
And we've all stepped across that line
But nothing's sweeter than the day we find
Forgiveness, forgiveness

And we all step on it and fall
Bridges burn in the heat it all
But nothing's sweeter than the day
Sweeter than the day we call

Out for forgiveness
You know we need that that that
You know we need that that that
You know we need that that that

No matter how lost you are
You're not that far, you're not too far (from forgiveness)
No matter how hurt you are
You're not that far, you're not too far (from forgiveness)
And no matter how wrong you are
You're not that far, you're not too far (from forgiveness)
And no matter who you are
You're not that far, you're not too far (from forgiveness)

Ask for forgiveness

'Cause we all make mistakes sometimes
And we've all stepped across that line
But nothing's sweeter than the day we find
Forgiveness, forgiveness

And we all stumble and we fall
Bridges burn in the heat of it all
But nothing's sweeter than the day
Sweeter than the day, we call

Out for forgiveness
We all need, we all need
We all need forgiveness
We all need, we all need

Everyone makes mistakes sometimes, even when we don't realize it. But we all need to forgive, even when that person never asked for it.

There are two big lies that follow the word forgiveness around, number one is to forgive is to forget, and number two is that the person must ask for forgiveness before you can give it. Now let me ask you something, we all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God, even as little babes, do you think we recognize every sin in our lives to bring them to God? I don't think so, there are many things that I am still learning are sins. Yet God forgives us for them anyways. And really? Forget? God didn't make us to forget things like that. Our brains are so complex they filter out the unimportant stuff and keep the things it thinks we need, with any subconscious thought about it. That's why we must keep forgiving and forgiving over and over again, sometimes it goes away immediately if the hurt wasn't that bad, but if it was, Satan will use that to try to bring us down, but we've got to remember to keep forgiving.

Remember that forgiving one another is just as good for both of the people. When you live with pent up anger it's only going to boil inside you, until it eats you from the inside out.

Jesus forgave you and that other person (If their a Christian) why do you think what was good for the King of Kings isn't good enough for you?

Beloved by Tenth Avenue North

So how many of you adore Tenth Avenue North as much as I do? Most likely none of you. People I adore them. :)

But, getting to the subject at hand. This post is going to be a little different from my first 'Music Dissection'. That one was going over all the lyrics, and I'll still do that occasionally, but do you know how much time that takes? Too much. So I'm just going to dive into the song head first, eyes not quite closed because that wouldn't work very well. ;P

Love of my life, deep in my eyes
There you will find what you need
And give me your life, lust and the lies
The past you're afraid I might see
You've been running away from me

You're my beloved, lover I'm yours
Death shall not part us, it's you I died for
For better or worse forever we'll be
My love it unites us and it binds you to me
It's a mystery

Love of my life look deep in my eyes
There you will find what you need
And I'm the giver of life, I'll clothe you in white
My immaculate bride you will be
Oh, come running home to me

You're my beloved, lover I'm yours
Death shall not part us, it's you I died for
For better or worse forever we'll be
My love it unites us and it binds you to me

You've been a mistress, my wife
You're chasing lovers that won't satisfy
Won't you let me make you my bride?
You will drink of my lips and you'll taste new life

You're my beloved, lover I'm yours
Death shall not part us, it's you I died for
For better or worse forever we'll be
My love it unites us and it binds you to me
It's a mystery

I've read a lot of the comments under this song at YouTube and I can say a bunch of people seem to get the meaning of this song wrong. Many of the comments go something like this, 'I can't wait to meet the love of my life', 'Still looking for the love of my life', 'I think I've finally met the love of my life.' I find it really sad that they miss the very obvious point in this beautiful song.

Jesus is the love of our lives. The band isn't talking about earthly love, they are talking about the love of God when he sent His only son to come save us from our own sin.

We were lonely sinners destined for Hell. We were chasing things, 'Chasing lovers that won't satisfy', when Jesus died on the cross for us. We are His beloved.

"For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten son, and whosoever believeth in Him shall have eternal life" John 3:16

Jesus Christ died to clothe us in white and to make us His 'immaculate bride'. Meaning the whole church.

This song is showing us the parallels that the Bible already has in it. The beautiful world of marriage to the perfect groom. And how He never gave up on us even when we didn't want Him.

This is one of my favorite songs and I never tire of listening to it, I hope you guys like it too. :)

Is there anything you would like to add or share about this song?
